The best bit is it costs absolutely nothing and you can start growing your tree just after you’ve finished your next avocado!

Whilst I have an Avoseedo which can be purchased for around £8 on Amazon you can achieve the very same results with just a few cocktail sticks and a fresh glass of water.
1. First remove the seed, wash and set to dry for 24 hours.
2. After a day drying use a sharp knife peel away the outer hard skin of the seed.
3. Insert 3 to 4 cocktail sticks at an equal distances around the center of your seed around 1/3 from the bottom of the seed.
The sticks will act as a prop so the seed won’t be fully submerged in to the water.
If you have an Avoseedo, firmly press your seed into the grip and float on fresh water.
4. Regularly change your water and be patient, mine took roughly 2 months to show any signs of movement (but apparently that is quite long).
5. Once a firm root is established you can transfer your avocado to a pot. I used an ordinary potting soil which I use for my garden plants, compacting tightly around the roots and leaving the seed partially above soil.
My avocado now sits back in my brightly lit window but i’ll keep this updated with its progress.
If you have any questions about how you can grow your own avocado tree please do get in touch. I’d love to see photos of yours!
Update: 10.05.2020
We re-planted our newly named Arnold the Avo as the compost had become so compact due to its heavy watering schedule.
Look at the roots system on that ?
